I was excited after so many rainy days, when the skies cleared on Friday. Naturally, we wanted to get outdoors and into the sunshine!
I wanted to be near the shore, so we headed to Duke Point, which is a very thin peninsula across the water from Nanaimo. It forms the eastern edge of the Nanaimo River Estuary.
The sky was clear with a few clouds hanging onto the mountain range.
Biggs Park and Jack Point are on the peninsula with a trail that follows the shoreline.
I knew it was going to be a good day when we saw the Bald eagle fly overhead.
In many places we scrambled down onto the rocks.
The sandstone is sculpted into fascinating designs.
