Are You a Thalassophile?

I am an Oceanholic, a thalassophile, a lover of the sea.

It is an interesting biological fact that all of us have, in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and, therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch it we are going back from whence we came. – John F. Kennedy

I’d Rather Be… at the seashore with bare feet, salty hair and my camera.

I listen to the cry of the gulls and the sound of the waves polishing the stones like it is a symphony.

I taste the salty air,  feel the sand between my toes, look out to the endless horizon and my heart fills with joy.

I am at peace when I walk along the shoreline. All stress and worry, all the cares are washed away.

There are also endless possibilities for entertainment at the beach.

But the beach is best when it it is explored and shared with children.

  1. Yes, I am. For someone who did not grow up near water, there is something about standing or sitting near the ocean that soothes my soul and my stress just melts away. Can’t wait to go to the beach. My family cannot understand it.
